May 24 (Xinhua) -- According to Italian media reports, former seaport owner
Javier
received an offer from a Chinese team. According to an article written by Xinmin Evening News, if Javier returns to the
China Super League (soccer league)
coaching, the next home will likely be a team that isn't very competitive overall, or even currently struggling.
Javier's coaching experience at Shanghai Seaport has been full of contradictions. On the one hand, he led the team to the second Chinese Super League trophy in the team's history, and was an unquestionably champion coach. However, the Spanish coach's personality and distinctive coaching style, coupled with off-field incidents, have also tarnished his image.
The most famous incident was early last season when Vargas, whom Harbour had brought in at great expense, was upset at being replaced by Javier and whined on the sidelines. The short-tempered Javier, despite the fact that the game was still in progress, argued with Vargas and even came close to a fight.
In addition, Harbour's results on other fronts besides the league have been controversial. Harbour were beaten by Thailand's Pathum United in last season's AFC Champions League play-offs and did not qualify for the main round, a game after which the sound of Harvill's dismissal resounded through Harbour's home ground.
Javier had a "second stint" with Henan prior to his time in the harbor, and had a pretty good record overall, at least keeping the team on an even keel. Javier is good at leading mid-to-lower table teams, which is the main reason why he has received another offer from a Chinese team.
As the Chinese Super League approaches its halfway point, teams with stable results such as Shenhua, Harbour, Guoan and Taishan are unlikely to change their managers. Several teams at the lower end of the table, on the other hand, are likely to take action in order to survive relegation. Therefore, Javier's next home, if he does return to the Chinese Super League, is likely to be a team that is not as competitive overall, or even currently struggling.
