In the 17th minute, Zacha blasted a heavy shot from outside the box that flew like a cannonball towards the goal, and Kaiserslautern's keeper couldn't react enough to see the ball go into the net. The goal gave Leverkusen the lead and put the team in a more favorable position in the game.

However, Leverkusen had to play with 10 men after Kosonu was red-carded for stamping on an opponent just before the end of the first half. This made the game more tense and Kaiserslautern stepped up their attack.

In the second half of the match, Leverkusen withstood Kaiserslautern's onslaught, and they managed to maintain their lead by using sturdy defense and effective counterattacks. In the end, Leverkusen defeated Kaiserslautern with a score of 1-0, becoming the sixth double-winning team in German history.
