The Los Angeles Lakers have announced the firing of their entire coaching staff, including head coach Darwin Ham. Former NBA player JJ Redick is currently the frontrunner for the Lakers' head coaching job, according to famed journalist Shams Charania.
According to Los Angeles Times reporter Dan Woike, Anthony Davis spoke highly of James Borrego during the Lakers' hiring process, while former Laker Rajon Rondo was also in the coaching staff's thoughts.
Woike writes in the report, "Anthony Davis speaks highly of James Borrego, sources close to the situation say. Plans for the configuration of the Lakers' coaching staff have been circulating throughout the league over the past two weeks, with the most frequently mentioned names including former head coach Scott Brooks, assistant coaches Sam Cassell and Jared Dudley. Cassell has already chatted with Lakers general manager Robert Pelinka about topics related to the head coaching position in a video call prior to this week, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Former Lakers player Rajon Rondo is also under consideration."
"For much of the past month, the coaching search has been led by Pelinka. Interviewees include executives from a variety of departments, according to people familiar with the matter."
The Lakers are currently actively searching for a new head coach, expecting to achieve better results in the new season. The addition of candidates such as Redick, Borrego, Brooks, Cassell, Dudley and Rondo will bring different tactical concepts and experience to the team, and it is worthwhile to look forward to whether the Lakers can return to the top under the leadership of the new coach.
