Brazilian and Argentinean teams continued to perform strongly in the group stage of this year's Copa Libertadores. Six Brazilian teams, Fluminense, São Paulo, Botafogo, Flamengo, Palmeiras and Atletico Mineiro, managed to advance. In addition, Argentina's Taleres, San Lorenzo and River Plate also made it to the knockout rounds.
Some traditional powerhouses such as Colo Colo, Barranquilla Juniors and Uruguayan Nation also fared well and made it to the Round of 16, while the final spot in Group C will be between Huachipato and Gremio, who will battle it out in the final round of matches to qualify for the tournament.
