According to Guangzhou Daily, the team is expected to assemble at their training base in Panyu around March 6 to prepare for the upcoming season. Considering the large number of departures of core players from last season, the new Guangzhou team will be led by head coach Liu Zhiyu, with a core of young reserve players born in '01 who played in the AFC Champions League last year, and incorporating some of the new youth players selected from soccer schools.
