The cause has been progressing, and the hardware and software conditions are constantly improving: "We played on cinder fields and yellow fields when we were kids, but now the stadiums are well-equipped, with natural and artificial grass, and rich in resources. Leagues are all over the place from toddlers to universities, and school soccer is booming."

Sports bring girls confidence and joy

Nike's Boundless Girls program has been running for three years, working with 323 elementary schools to help more than 30,000 girls start their athletic journeys. As one of the participants, Wang Shanshan has felt the positive impact of sports on the girls.

"I can feel the girls' love for sports. There is no set pattern in life, it's enough to find joy and meaning in sports."

Wang Shanshan said that sports have brought her confidence, responsibility and commitment. As she gets older, self-discipline becomes more and more important: "Sister Na (Li Na) is our role model, reminding us that we need to be self-disciplined on the court as well. As we grow older, it's difficult to maintain our athleticism without self-discipline."

Wang Shanshan said her perseverance over the years stems from her love of soccer.

Love and perseverance, never wanting to give up

Wang Shanshan said self-discipline is the key to her achievements. Before the 2016 Rio Olympics, she was off for eight weeks with a knee injury: "I couldn't move during that time, so I could only train my upper body and waist and abdomen. After returning to the team, my teammates teased me that I had practiced myself into a 'Schwarzenegger'."

Physical injuries and slumps in form, Wang Shanshan has suffered in her career. But she never wanted to give up because she loves the sport. In addition to Li Na, she also idolizes C Luo, who, with self-discipline and perseverance, has become a soccer legend.

"Sports make people more confident and clearer about what they want. For Shannon Wang, who has been fighting for years on the green field, all she seeks is to continue to love the sport."

"We soccer players never want to give up because we love the sport. Nowadays the environment is getting better and better, so I hope more kids take the plunge."
