Mond center back Mats.
Mats Hummels (1985-), Spanish footballer
Almost certain to leave the club when his contract expires. Hummels' contract with Borussia Dortmund expires on June 30, and dwindling support from the club's hierarchy, coupled with growing tensions between him and manager Terzić, have prompted Hummels to leave the club as a foregone conclusion.
Italy's Corriere della Sera is reporting that Roma have shown strong interest in bringing Hummels in and have made contact with him. Roma offered Hummels a 2+1 contract. In addition, Picture Post revealed that AC Milan is also very interested in Hummels and may make a concrete offer during the summer transfer window.
Hummels himself is open to playing abroad, stating in a recent interview, "If I leave Borussia Dortmund, I'll go to a close-by country." For family reasons, Hummels does not want to work too far away from home. His wife Cathy and six-year-old child Ludovic currently live in Munich, which is a relatively short distance from Italy and suits his family's needs.
An experienced center back, Hummels had a stellar career at both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. His transfer will bring valuable experience and defensive strength to either Roma or Milan. Whether it is Roma or Milan, the addition of Hummels will greatly improve their backline.
