Manchester United originally failed to qualify for Europe after finishing only eighth in the league. However, after beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final, United secured a ticket to Europe. This means that United will need to pay more compensation if they decide to sack Ten Hahn.
If United fail to qualify for Europe, ten Hahn's £9m annual salary will be cut by 25% to £6.75m. However, as United get a European ticket through the FA Cup, Ten Hahn's annual salary will remain unchanged.
Sources at United said that the seasonal evaluation by Sir Ratcliffe and his soccer operations team is still underway and there is no clear timetable for when it will be completed. Ten Hahn, who is currently on vacation, is also unsure of his future fate. And United's first pre-season game will be played on July 15th.
Potential replacements for United if Ten Hagar steps down include Gareth Southgate, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino.
