Main Event, Striker Kane
Interviewed by Channel 4.
Kane: "We knew it was a tough game in a place where it's hard to play our
soccer ball
It's tough to face a decent team on a stadium with a decent style of play. We went down 0-1 on a penalty and I felt good on the pitch, whether it was 90 minutes or 10 minutes of kicking, I was trying to help the team. It was important for us to get a goal back, but unfortunately we couldn't score a second."
"I think it was an own goal, pretty sure. If anyone could have gotten a second chance to score today, it would have been us. Against Malta we had poor possession and today our opponents gave us a few blows with counter-attacks and penalties. We were up against a team that people expected us to beat five to six nil, but they took the World Cup qualifiers to
Italy
eliminated. Now the team can really be proud of their performance throughout the qualifiers."
On debutant Rico Lewis? "I thought he was good with and without the ball, that penalty was a bit of a shame but he was great today can be proud of that, I thought he was so good, Lewis just needs to keep working hard and I'm sure he'll do well."
