A point earned at Selhurst Park.
A mistake by Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen led to Jordan Ayew\'s header just before the end of the first half, ending a rather boring first half.
Eberech Eze came on as a substitute in the second half and managed to make a comeback, and he had a couple of chances to extend his team\'s lead, but the visitors dominated in the closing stages of the game.
The result leaves crystal palace still seeking a second league win at home and means the rivals have played their fifth consecutive Premier League meeting at Selhurst Park in a 1-1 draw.
There wasn\'t much to boast about in the opening stages of the game, with only a deflected shot from Pascal Gross and a cross from Ayew. It was Ayew\'s first return to the starting lineup since he was sent off against Liverpool. Verbruggen easily caught the ball out of the air in the 10th minute of play.
Dean Henderson made his home debut in place of the injured Sam Johnstone and made his second start. He blocked a Simon Addingra shot and Carlos Balepa fired wide from the ball. The game then largely returned to midfield with both sides calmly controlling their opponents in their respective penalty areas.
Sanfilippo Kaoru showed occasional flashes of brilliance down the left side as Jean-Philippe Mateta took a direct shot from a Tyreek Mitchell cross but it was blocked by Verbruggen. crystal palace had two set-piece chances and came closest to scoring with the second, as Michael Ollis\'s corner kick took a deflection off Ayew inside the penalty area and ended up in Verbruggen\'s arms.
Billy Gilmour and Balepa were excellent in defense inside the 18-yard box, and Chris Richards, Matta and Ollis all posed a threat to the visitors. Jefferson Lerma tried next but couldn\'t put the finishing touches on Ollis\' cross and Gross\' shot was parried away.
Just as the first half was coming to an end, Verbruggen fumbled an attempted pass under pressure from Richards, giving Oliseh a chance instead. Ollese headed the ball towards Will Hughes, who scored with a header for his 100th Premier League start.
Hughes played the ball back to Ollis who cleverly headed the cross towards the far post for Ayew\'s header just before the half-time whistle.
Roberto De Zerbi made two substitutions, including Welbeck, when play resumed in the second half. João Pedro\'s shot and Lewis Dunk soon had a great chance to equalize, with Dunk rising high to receive a free-kick from Gross, but could only divert his header wide of the post.
The diving Henderson was able to push Gilmour\'s attempts to solve the problem in a crowded box, while Jack Hinshelwood was frustrated after receiving consecutive crosses from Gross, sending the ball over the crossbar.

On came Eze, who should have doubled his side\'s lead, but he hesitated and was instead denied by Jan-Paul van Herk\'s sliding tackle before firing another shot wide.
