The UEFA Champions League is recognized as one of the world's most influential and high-level club competitions, and one of the world's highest-prize soccer and sports events.
II. Introduction to the competition system
The UEFA Champions League is divided into three parts: the qualifying phase, the play-off phase and the main round. The qualification phase consists of the preliminary rounds (semi-finals and finals, one match to decide the winner), the first qualifying round, the second qualifying round and the third qualifying round.
The UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds (excluding the preliminary rounds) and the UEFA Champions League play-offs are two rounds, home and away, with the second qualifying round, third qualifying round and play-offs divided into the "Road to the Championship" and the "Road to the League".
A total of 32 teams participate in the group stage, divided into eight groups of four teams each, with the top two teams advancing to the knockout rounds and the third-placed team in the group stage participating in the Euroleague knockout play-offs.The 1/8th, 1/4th and semifinal rounds are two-legged home-and-away matches, and the final rounds are played at neutral venues, with no third- or fourth-place matches.
If the teams are tied at the end of the 90 minutes of regulation time, the match will go into 30 minutes of extra time, and if there is no winner in extra time, the match will go into penalty kicks.
