Ubray (name)

Once called the next Kobe, he suffered from depression after living off his face.

On February 28th, Suns forward Utley suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee and is probably out for the season. This is a huge blow to Ubrey, who is having the best season of his career, and to the Suns, who are still fighting for their slim playoff hopes.

In fact, battling life's vicissitudes and misfortunes has long been a family affair for Ubray.

Utley was born in New Orleans, but he has vague memories of his hometown, where the streets, the schools, and his old home are only vague outlines in his mind, and the hurricane is to blame for all of this.

New Orleans after the hurricane that year

In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina swept through New Orleans. Fans will remember that the Supersonic in 2008 into the Russian city and renamed the Thunder, it is the New Orleans Hornets in order to avoid the hurricane, had in 2005 to 2007 briefly relocated to the Russian city, and spent 2 successful seasons here to lay the foundation; fans will not forget, at that time, still a rookie Paul was actively assisting in disaster relief. The Jazz Capital has touched the hearts of people from all walks of life in the NBA.

It was during this time that Ubray, at the age of nine, uprooted himself from his home with his father and eventually settled in Houston. Years later, although Ubrey can no longer remember what the flooded elementary school or his teachers looked like, the hurricane had a huge impact on the formation of his character.

On the one hand, as Ubray himself said, "I became accustomed to adversity, to getting up after falling down, and to getting up stronger." On the other hand, Ubray's lack of inner security became the cause of his depression later in life.

In high school, Utley was nicknamed "AllBoy" because he was so active and seemed to be able to do anything. Teachers remembered that Ubray was "tall and skinny", had a backflip and one-armed slam dunk and became popular on campus, but also in order to please the girls in the flip intentionally back to the ground to pretend to be injured, and many times the principal was invited to the office to "talk to you".

In addition, because of his high school's outdated basketball court, Ubrey was a football major until his senior year. Years later, when he saw the basketball court, which had been renovated at a huge cost of $24 million, Ubrey said enviously, "How I wish I'd had a court like this when I was here, then I probably would have started playing basketball a long time ago."

At Findlay High School in Henderson, Nevada, Utley rose to fame and was even touted as the next Kobe. But his good times soon came to an end, and the choice of NCAA school Kansas became a major blunder.

Kansas did not arrange a special training program for him, resulting in his skills not only failed to improve quickly, but also more raw. Kansas' solution to this was to hide him. In Kansas this year, Ubray played 36 games, averaging 21 minutes of play, only 9.3 points and 5 rebounds into the account.

In the first spot after the 2015 lottery (15th overall), Ubere was drafted by the Hawks and then sent to the Wizards in a three-way trade. The first 2 years of his NBA career appeared to be a continuation of Ubere's NCAA career, as he failed to get his hands on any rookie-related accolades, averaging a mere 5.2 points per game over his first 2 seasons in 142 games. At that time, he left an impression that his eyes were blank except for the blue frame, and lacked maturity in both offense and defense.

Perhaps it was during this time that Ubray suffered from depression, which seems to be completely incompatible with himself. At first, ubrey deliberately hide, but in de la prazan and lefou successive self-exposure psychological problems, ubrey also bravely come to the public.

Utley dissects his heart, which includes both a horrific memory of the hurricane in his childhood and an insightful review of his not-so-successful experience from the NCAA to the NBA. He claims that his illness was the result of an imbalance between his inner pursuit of excellence and his lack of problem-solving ability in reality, which LadyGaga sings about in her song, "Nohecan`treadmypokerface," and which also describes Ubrey's time there.

Utley had his own way of getting rid of his depression. At every home game, he would glance to the right of the players' tunnel exit, where his father was watching him. Over the years, the elder Ubray would lecture his banned son at home, "You should be on the field playing, not sitting here watching the game!" Would go to the locker room after the game and discuss his poor shot selection with his son, helping him out of his wet jersey as he did so.

Utley has steadily improved, especially since being sent to the Suns in December 2018, and has been able to turn in career-best averages of 18.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game on 45.2 percent shooting from the field and 35.2 percent from 3-point range this season.

On top of playing good defense, fast breaks, open cuts and pop-up dunks with his outstanding physicality, his shot selection is gradually improving. If we are talking about the outstanding 3D in today's NBA, Utley should not be overlooked.

At one point, Ubray became famous in the NBA, not for his skills, but because "this kid is so handsome." He was once considered no less than Denzel Washington and Will Smith, fans formed a backup club for him, and he was once mistaken for a movie star and rap star by a girl when he attended a brand event in 2019.

But Ubray refused to "rely on the face to eat", "I thank everyone to appreciate my looks, but I really do not want to fall into the 'vase', I prefer to let everyone see my efforts."

From PokerFace to reluctant fighter, this is the real Ubray. Even if we don't get to see him again this season, there's reason to believe that the man who couldn't even be broken by a hurricane, depression, or being snowed in will never call it a day.

Utley is now with the Hornets.
