In the first half, Japan quickly took the initiative. The first goal came from Eisei Ueda, who utilized a header to open the scoring for Japan. Ei Kukai then delivered an assist on an attack that saw Yasutoshi Don extend the lead to 2-0. Shortly after, Ei Kukai once again showed his threatening passes that resulted in an ouchie from Syrian player Tal, giving Japan a 3-0 lead going into the halftime break.
In the second half, Japan continued to keep the pressure on. Yuki Soma scored a penalty to make it 4-0, and Takumi Minamino added a second goal to make it 5-0, but Syria failed to change the situation despite several attempts to counterattack.
