Giroud as
French team
The all-time top scorer, has announced that he will quit the national team after the Euros. A few weeks ago, Giroud had learned that he would not be starting in the Euros. His poor performance in the warm-up match against Canada left him frustrated and forced him to accept a role on the bench. Deschamps plans to play Junior Thuram on the left and Mbappe will start in the middle.
Pavard, like Saliba, has had a great season for the club but is facing a challenge for his place. Last October, Deschamps agreed in principle to play Pavard at center back for the national team, but he did not start against Luxembourg and played on the right when he came on. Against Canada, Saliba was outstanding and appears to be the preferred replacement for the starting center back pairing of Konate and Upamecano, which has resulted in Pavard dropping down to fourth in the pecking order.
Furthermore, with the comebacks of Joan Ameny and Rabio, and the return of Kante, the 18-year-old Emery Jr. is more likely to be used by Deschamps than Youssouf Fofana and Camarvinga, despite his ability. Emery Jr's chances of playing in this Europa League are likely to be very limited.
