Recently, the European Football Association imposed penalties on eight of Europe's top clubs, with Italian soccer powerhouses Roma, Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan unfortunately making the list.
The four Serie A giants were fined a total of 172 million euros, but would only have had to pay 14.5 million euros had they been able to qualify for the Europa League.
According to the data, the total loss of Serie A for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons is as high as 1.7 billion euros, with more than 70% of the loss originating from Juventus, Roma, Inter Milan and AC Milan.
FC Roma's business situation in these two seasons ranked at the bottom of the Serie A, and even within Europe is only slightly better than other teams, with an accumulated loss of up to 389 million euros.
Inter Milan's losses total €348 million for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons.
Juventus lost €300 million in the same period, while AC Milan lost €291 million.
Napoli lost 78 million euros, while Lazio lost 40 million euros.
Roma boss Jose Mourinho officially takes over the team's coaching reins in the summer of 2021, by which time Roma will already be carrying a massive debt of €389 million.
As a result, Mourinho seems to have jumped into a deep pit called Roma, and the Serie A market as a whole seems to be an even bigger trap.
