Recalling his encounters during the 12-team tournament, Luo Guofu mentioned a substitution decision made by former national soccer coach Li Tie. He revealed, "In the face of countless inquiries, I had silently explained in my mind that the referee signaled for me to leave the field, and I made a gesture in the mistaken belief that I was the one who held up the number plate, but it was not directed at the head coach, but rather, it was the fault of the referee. Only after the number plate was corrected did I leave the field."
In response to Li Tie's inquiry, Luo Guofu also clarified the misunderstanding and said, "I hope that Coach Li Tie enjoys his life, precipitates himself, and can return to the position of head coach of the national football team in the future, and I believe that he is worthy of this position."
Regarding the reason for his absence from the final round of the 12-team tournament, Luo Guofu explained, "Due to the lack of systematic training, I was not in a position to accompany the team for the final round so as not to affect the team's overall training and matches. I preferred to inform in advance so that more capable people could play."
Luo Guofu offers constructive advice on the future of the national soccer team
In response to the current situation of the national football team, Luo Guofu expressed his views: "We have to change our mentality and find the confidence of the strong, instead of facing the strong team to be haphazard and barely draw. Soccer is not like this, there is no absolute strength or weakness in the stadium, we have to face every game with the mentality of winning."
He argued that the players' performance at the club far exceeds that of the national team, where the players are more on full defense. He called on the team to step up their offense and play both offense and defense in order to achieve good results.
Talking about the Asian Cup, Lok Fu said: "If there is an invitation from the national soccer team, I will do my best. My Brazilian club also understands this, which is why I signed late. If there is an opportunity for the Asian Cup, I am 100 percent willing to participate."
Fernando eager to recover from injury, looking forward to return to the national soccer team
Fernando described his injury in an interview and said, "The injury appeared at the thigh tendon attachment point, three consecutive injuries that will take a long time to recover. I have done thigh strength training and believe I can participate 100 percent in training and games."
On whether he will continue to play for the national soccer team, Fernando said: "I am more eager than anyone to play for the national soccer team and my family supports me. But unfortunately, injuries have prevented me from doing so for the time being. I hope to return to China as soon as possible, find a new team and get back to form."
He revealed that returning to Asian football is the top choice for his career. He said, "Although I have been invited by several Brazilian clubs, the first choice is still to return to Asia. My agent is in talks and hopefully an agreement will be reached."
Fernando is nostalgic about the Chinese Super League. He said, "In 2016, I was remembered for my long-distance runs and given the name 'Moto'. I like to eat spicy little noodles."
Fernando is looking forward to next year's Asian Cup. He said, "I believe that through my hard work, I can get a call-up to the national team for the Asian Cup."
