Zhao Xu, a 37-year-old former elite national soccer player, left his hometown of Dalian this season and resolutely joined Sichuan Jiuniu to continue his soccer legend. In a recent interview, Zhao revealed that Sichuan has become a key part of his career and an important springboard to the A-League and the national team. Talking about his motivation to stay on the pitch despite being over 30 years old, Zhao Xuri lamented, "To be recognized at this age is a great incentive in itself."

I played for Sichuan Guancheng for two seasons, and I am filled with joy to return to Sichuan after so many years," Zhao recalled. I have a deep affection for the city of Chengdu, and even though I started my soccer career in Dalian, Sichuan has always been an important point in my career, and the starting point for me to realize my dream of playing in the First Division and my journey to the national team. Looking back now, the years in Sichuan mean a lot to me."

To be able to join Sichuan Jiuniu, Zhao Xuri first thanked head coach Sergio for his trust. "He saw my unique style and thought the team needed such a player. In addition, the club also actively promoted the signing process, making the whole joining process very smooth."

Talking about his initial impression of the team, Zhao Xuri said: "This season, the team lineup changes a lot, new members joined, the team atmosphere is positive, but we also need time to integrate. Once we are familiar with each other, I believe the team will improve. Of course, compared with the strongest teams in the Chinese Super League and Central League, there is still a gap between the rhythm of our game and the individual ability of the players, which we must face up to."

Compared to his first time in Sichuan, most of his teammates have retired, and only Zhao Xuri is still fighting on the field. In this regard, Zhao Xuri said: "When I realize that I am still recognized and still seen as a valuable asset on the pitch, that in itself is the biggest achievement. I hope to create value for the team and individuals by showing my abilities and strengths through relentless hard work and play in my new team."
