1 The Legend of Shui Qingxia

After a lot of turmoil, 55-year-old Shui Qingxia finally took the helm of the Chinese women's soccer team. Since 1984, the Chinese women's soccer team has had 18 coaches, with 14 local coaches and only 4 foreign coaches. Shui Qingxia's return is not only the first female local head coach in the history of Chinese women's soccer, but also the first female local head coach in the history of Chinese women's soccer.

2 Inter-City Football Legends

Founded in 2013, Wuhan Sanzhen won the 2021 Chinese League One title and are set for a "Wuhan Derby" with Wuhan, who set a new record for the longest winning streak in a domestic sub-league with 14 consecutive victories in the 2022 season. Meizhou Hakka, which was promoted to the Chinese Super League alongside Wuhan Sanzhen, is the first county-level city team in the Chinese Super League.

4 Wang Frost's Olympic Splendor

In the July 24th match between the Chinese women's soccer team and Zambia, Wang Frost made history by becoming the first Chinese women's soccer player to score a hat-trick and a "big four" at the Olympics. In the list of Olympic scorers, she followed Sun Wen with 4 goals. At the national team level, Wang Frost has played 109 matches, contributing 33 goals.

6 The Rise of Naturalized Players

On November 16, 2021, China's men's soccer team sent four naturalized players to make their debut in the Qatar World Cup Asian qualifiers, head coach Li Tie, namely Ickerson, Luo Guofu, Alan and Jiang Guangtai. This marked the emergence of naturalized players in Chinese men's football.

11 Shandong Taishan's Road to Glory

Shandong Taishan returned to the top of Chinese soccer eleven years after winning the Chinese Super League title in the 2021 season. The team has won the title four times so far, in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2021. Hao Wei, who brought trophies to Shandong soccer for two consecutive seasons, became the first person in the history of China's top flight to win the title in both his career as a player and manager.
