On August 23, a stormy deal made waves in the soccer world. Cypriot top-flight side Atletico Grecian Salon announced the transfer of China's Changchun Yatai foreigner Lucas Sousa to its fold as a free agent, with the two sides signing a nearly two-year deal until the end of May 2023.
Back in February 2020, Lucas Sosa was still playing in the Central League stage. At the time, Changchun Yatai signed him for a transfer fee of €1 million, and Sosa made 15 appearances in the 2020 season, scoring three goals, however was not a key foreigner for the team. Entering the 2021 season, Beijing Guoan, who were short of foreigners, loaned Sosa out for half a year for a fee of 750,000 euros. However, after the expiration of the loan contract, the two sides did not reach a consensus on the renewal of the contract or buyout, Sosa had no choice but to return to Changchun Yatai. In the Guoan team, Sosa only 7 appearances, did not become the team's non-me choice. It is reported that Sosa and Guoan failed to renew the contract rumors behind, may be the Chinese agent's high commission requirements.
Despite having a place reserved for Sosa, Changchun Yatai eventually chose to leave China due to a lack of starting positions, and Changchun Yatai showed great poise by releasing Sosa on a free transfer back to his old club. Sosa had played for Atletico Grecian between 2017 and 2019. After the official announcement of his joining, Sosa expressed his gratitude to the senior management of Atletico Grecian Salon: "It was their patience that made this transfer possible."
