The high asking price could force United to move on to other targets.
Manchester United submitted a £35 million + £8 million offer for Everton's center back Branthwaite on the opening day of the Premier League's summer window, but the offer was swiftly rejected by Everton. Everton's bid of £75 million for Brathwaite is a big gap with Manchester United's offer. If Everton do not lower their asking price, United will consider other center back targets.
Manchester United are planning to bring in at least two central defenders this summer, with the following players listed as potential targets:
Yoro of Lille
Bayern's Drieght
Crystal Palace's Gueye
In addition, the Italian media disclosed that Red Bull Salzburg's defender Sollett is also one of United's candidates for reinforcement. As his contract will expire next summer, Sollett's bid is between €12 million and €15 million, which is obviously much cheaper than the price of Drieght (£42 million) and Gueye (£50 million).
Manchester United have also been linked with Crystal Palace's young winger Ollis. Ollis, who has been a Red Devils fan since he was a child, is said to have a £60 million release clause in his contract which can be activated by any Champions League side. United have shown keen interest in the promising winger and are hoping to add him to their squad.
