The Football Association is accelerating the selection of the national team with 12

candidates

Five will be shortlisted, from which the new Korean head coach will eventually be selected. Of the 12 candidates, most are foreign coaches.

Yesterday afternoon, the KFA's Combat Strengthening Committee held its 9th selection meeting and 5th press conference to release the latest progress of the selection process. The committee conducted a five-hour evaluation and review of the 12 candidates at the meeting, watching videos of them coaching and learning about their main tactical ideas such as offense, defensive organization, and style of play. The members then offered their evaluations and recommended the candidates.

The Combat Strengthening Committee plans to finalize the final five candidates at the 10th selection meeting to be held in the near future. Once the final list of candidates is finalized, the KFA will complete all selection procedures in a closed-door manner until the negotiations and signing of the contract are completed.

On the 27th of this month, the draw will be held for the 18-team Asian qualifying tournament, and the first round of the 18-team tournament will be played in early September, which means that there is not much time left for South Korea to select a manager. South Korea will face five teams in the 18-team tournament, so the new manager will need to quickly familiarize himself with South Korean internationals and the Asian soccer environment, and be willing to travel around Asia to scout opponents. If the new manager is a foreigner, he will need more time to understand the specifics of Korean soccer.

South Korea sees itself as the strongest team in Asia and aims to excel in the 18-team tournament, which is not only about securing a World Cup ticket, but will also affect South Korea's classification in the World Cup.
