Beijing time on June 20, the second round of the Europa League group stage ended a focus game, Slovenia and Serbia 1-1 handshake. After the match, Serbian captain Tadic accepted the media interview, summarized the game and looked forward to the next game.
Tadic began by saying that getting a point was important even though the result of the game wasn't exactly what was hoped for: "The most important thing is that we got points in this game. We remained in contention and the team didn't give up, which showed our tough character." He admitted that the goal before the match was to get all three points, but the actual course of the match was not all smooth sailing.
Speaking about the specifics of the match, Tadic said, "I have mixed feelings. Before the game we were hoping for three points, but going into the game we looked a bit cautious. Slovenia showed more initiative in the game and they created some chances. Of course, we had chances to score in the first and second half, and if we had capitalized on them, the game could have turned out differently."
He gave an objective analysis of his team's performance in the game: "We missed a lot of chances, and by our standards we should have scored at least two or three goals in this game. Instead, we conceded a goal after missing chances. There are two sides to every game and we really need to analyze in depth where we didn't do enough."
Tadic emphasized that the team needs to learn from this game and keep improving: "We need to carefully analyze and correct the shortcomings, while strengthening the aspects we did well. The most important thing is to learn from every game and keep improving. Slovenia is a well-organized team with a direct style of play, and in some cases we did give the ball away too much."
