BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- After Denmark and England shook hands 1-1 in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League, Denmark's Jurmand shared his inner feelings after scoring a goal and his mixed emotions about the fans' enthusiastic cheering.
Referring to his crucial goal in the match, Jurmand recalled excitedly: "I didn't really see if the ball had actually gone in, because it passed several players in its flight and hit the goalpost. But luckily I saw the ball roll into the net and I immediately ran to the Danish fan zone. It was a really wild feeling."
The 24-year-old midfielder shouted "how was it?" several times during the celebrations after the goal, but after the game he admitted that he didn't remember much about it. Jurmand explained: "It was a real emotion that came out of my heart, it was extreme joy. It's very natural when you're in the heat of the game."
After the match, when the players thanked the Danish fans, Jurmand was pushed to the front to receive extra cheers and applause, a treatment not common for him. In response, he said, "I have mixed feelings about the loud cheering. I don't usually score a lot of goals, so sometimes I think it's nice to let other teammates enjoy the honor. It did seem a little special to stand there and receive everyone's cheers, but I appreciated the fact that they gave me such enthusiastic support."
