Shanghai Shenhua Football Club has completed the signing of Slutsky as head coach of the Shanghai Shenhua Football Team from January 1, 2024 onwards.
Leonid Slutsky is a famous Russian professional soccer coach and former player, born on May 4, 1971. His coaching career includes leading Olympia Volgograd, Elista Uraland, Moscow, Krylia Soviettov, CSKA Moscow, the Russian national team
, Hull City, Vitesse and Rubin Kazan, among others. Slutsky, who is Jewish, had his playing career cut short at the age of 19 due to a knee injury. As a coach, he led CSKA Moscow to the knockout stage of the Champions League for the first time in 2009 and won several Russian league titles with the club. He also coached the Russian national team during Euro 2016 before resigning after their group stage exit. He later held positions at Hull City, Vitesse and Rubin Kazan, where he made significant contributions to Russian soccer both domestically and internationally.
