Player policy, Shao Huaqian pointed out that the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) is considering leaving the affairs of naturalized players under the management of clubs, with a focus on acquiring talented players under the age of 16 and integrating them into the local domicile so that they can participate in the CBA as local players in the future.
Shao Huaqian also mentioned that similar to the Philippines and Japan, the Chinese Basketball Association may place more emphasis on blood ties in the selection of naturalized players. However, less emphasis may be placed on other factors such as skin color in the future.
According to FIBA rules, as long as naturalization is completed before the age of 16, these players will no longer be considered naturalized players in the FIBA system.
