McTominay, who scored a goal for Scotland, was interviewed by UEFA's official website after Scotland's 1-1 draw with Switzerland in the UEFA Europa League group stage. He shared his thoughts on the match and his confidence in his team's future performances.

Speaking about his goal in the game, McTominay clarified, "It wasn't an own goal, the ball was going towards the goal. My task was to get into the box and try to find a chance. I actually had another overhead kick in the second half, but unfortunately it was blocked by Adams, otherwise that goal would have probably gone in because it was going in the right direction."

Reflecting on his team's performance in the last game, he admits, "We looked very passive and reactive in the last game. But we knew we were capable of doing better and there was real energy in the team. So we decided to go with a high press tactic and that played a key role in tonight's game."

McTominay also mentioned that the team created a number of chances during the game, "Grant Hanley had a header that hit the post, which shows that we had a lot of chances to score. If we can keep that hunger and desire and believe we can beat Hungary, I'm sure we can do it."

Speaking about the second half performance, he emphasized that his team showed good form in possession: "We were excellent in possession, patient in handling the ball and able to press at the right time. These positives will motivate us to do well in our next match against Hungary. That's what playing soccer is all about, you have to give your all in these games."
