Dutch defender Dumfries was interviewed after the Europa League group stage match in which he drew with France, detailing his thoughts on the controversial penalties in the match and looking ahead to the upcoming battle with Austria.

Speaking about the goal that was intervened and eventually blown away by VAR during the game, Dumfries explained the circumstances. He stated that he was ready for the rebound after Depay's shot and stood in a position beside the keeper. At the time of Simmons' shot, he emphasized that he was not standing in the path of the shot, but was located behind the last defender. Dumfries felt that it was a difficult call because he did not feel that he was in the way of the goalie. He tried to communicate with the referee in the hope of changing the call, but certainly not at the expense of getting a yellow card.

For the upcoming battle against Austria, Dumfries said that Austria is a very hard working team that shows a lot of aggression without the ball. He emphasized that the Dutch team needs to prepare for this match with full concentration to meet the challenge of Austria.
