In an interview with ESPN Holland following the 0-0 draw with France in the Europa League group stage, Dutch goalkeeper Feibruchten expressed his thoughts on the outcome of the match as well as his regrets over the blown goal.
Fiebruchten began by stating that the Dutch team had hoped to win this match, and that they were eager to go head-to-head with the powerful French team. Although the last twenty minutes of the game were mainly defense-oriented, he appreciated the hard work of his teammates. He believes that the team did a great job in defense and did not give too many chances to their opponents.
Speaking about Simmons' blown goal, Fabricant exuded regret. He said, "I was already cheering and really didn't expect the goal to be canceled." Feibruchten watched back the video of the goal and believes that if the referee had initially acknowledged the goal, the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) may not have stepped in and disallowed it. However, he also admitted that as a member of the Dutch national team, he inevitably viewed the issue with a certain amount of emotion.
Despite regretting the blown goal, Fibruhn was pleased with his team's overall performance and said he will continue to work hard to be ready for the upcoming matches.
