Victory over Poland in Austria

After the game, head coach Ronny Longnecker spoke to the media, analyzing the proceedings in detail and looking forward to the team's future performances.

Ronnick began by reflecting on the early part of the game, "The first 20 minutes, we were perfect, to say the least. We had a chance to extend the score to more than just 1-0, but then we lost our way a bit and started making frequent mistakes." He admitted that the team's dip in form in the first half had to do with psychological factors, possibly because the team played too easily in the first 20 minutes and thought they could easily score again, or because they were under pressure.

He went on to talk about the second half adjustments, "We had to make some changes in the second half and once those adjustments were made, we regained control of the game." Ronnick emphasized that the team cannot afford to have players play below their actual level of play, it will not be tolerated.

When asked about the celebration during Austria's second goal, Rangnick joked easily, "Did Baumgartner break my glasses when he ran over to celebrate with me? No, they're still fine and I have two spare pairs."

Finally, Rangnick spoke about the upcoming final group game, "Will the pressure be off against the Netherlands? We need at least one more point to ensure progression, but now we'll have to see what happens in the other games tonight. It's possible that we could win first place in the group by beating Holland, but the important thing is that we've shown a good performance today."
