According to the Daily Mail, the current
European cup (e.g. soccer)
UEFA has set out new rules that specifically limit and clarify players' dealings with the referee. According to these rules, only the captain of the field has the right to communicate with the referee on penalty issues during the match, while other players who interfere will face a direct yellow card penalty.
However, if the captain of the field happens to be the goalkeeper, UEFA allows them to designate another player to represent the team with the referee. This rule was put into practice in the recent Denmark v England match, where Denmark's captain, Junior Schmeichel, chose Højbjerg to perform this task.
Donnarumma, captain of the Italian team, confirmed this in an interview: "We have communicated with the UEFA refereeing director and the rules are very clear. When a situation arises during the match that requires negotiation, I will go forward and communicate with the referee. But before the match starts, we will decide that other players on the pitch, such as Jorginho or Barrera, may communicate with the referee on my behalf in situations outside the penalty area."
This new rule provides clearer and stricter guidelines for the fairness and order management of the game, ensuring the smooth running of each game and the impartiality of refereeing decisions.
