Agbonlahor, a football veteran who has played for England, revealed on March 25 BST that even an offer of up to £70 million may not be enough to take the star of San Kaoru away from Brighton.
Dating back to two years ago, Brighton brought in Kaoru Mitsunori from Kawasaki Striker for just €3 million. However, today, Kaoru's price tag in the German transfer market has risen to 22 million euros. In his last 13 Premier League matches, Kaoru has contributed 6 goals and 4 assists; this season, he has made 27 appearances, delivering 9 goals and 6 assists.
In Villa's official column, Agbonlahor expressed his displeasure: "I don't want to see a player poached after a high profile season. San Kaoru is having a great season at Brighton, but it is doubtful whether he can get a foothold at a top club. I don't think Kaoru would be willing to leave even if a team offered him £60-70 million. He might be better suited to stay at Brighton and play for the team for another season."
It is reported that the two giants of the Premier League, Manchester City and Arsenal, have both shown strong interest in San Kaoru.
Despite the fact that San Kaoru's contract doesn't expire until June 2025, Brighton's CEO Barber has made it known that the club intends to keep the player on a contract extension. It has been reported that Mitsunori, who is currently earning just £1.02 million a year at Brighton, would be willing to accept a contract extension that would double his annual salary.
Agbonlahor is not exaggerating when he believes that a £70million offer will struggle to take away San Xuan. Brighton CEO Barber has also stated that the club is not reliant on selling players to keep them afloat, and he believes that the £70 million amount would only buy half of Caicedo.
