Liverpool (England)
A new face was welcomed to the club on Thursday (29th) - Dutch shot-stopper Gapp. After a rigorous medical examination, the 23-year-old Dutch international officially joined the club on a five-and-a-half-year contract, and will wear the No. 18 jersey. Talking about this summer's transfer experience, Gap confessed that he had been looking forward to Manchester United, but ultimately failed to get what he wanted.
The transfer fee is said to be a whopping £37 million with a floating clause of around £13 million. Gap commented on Liverpool's official website, "I'm really looking forward to playing at Anfield, I've heard so many legends about the stadium and know how intense the atmosphere is. My aim is to help Liverpool win as many titles as possible, whilst at the same time on a personal level I want to be a better player every year."
Garp was originally close to landing in the Premier League in pre-season, but ultimately failed to do so. In an interview with NRC, he recalled the nerves of that summer, "It was a very tough time, but I learned a lot. I had been thinking about joining Manchester United but I can't remember exactly when I gave up. It was then that I started to worry and the involvement of Leeds United made me start to think about whether I should take them up on their offer. I've been waiting recently, but have not heard from United. It's not until an offer comes along that I'll reconsider. I even asked God for help before making a decision ......"
