The Asian Zone 18 draw resulted in a desirable group placement and will compete in the same group as Iraq, Jordan, Oman, Palestine and Kuwait.

Generally pleased with the result, it was felt that South Korea had avoided formidable opponents such as Australia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE to enter a relatively easy group. These opponents, while powerful, are considered more manageable contenders compared to South Korea.
South Korea will try to capitalize on this opportunity to qualify for their 11th consecutive World Cup. They will face challenges in the Middle East, but are confidently preparing for this new World Qualifying campaign.
