In the last season's finale, Sherratt almost handed Manchester City a defeat, helping Liverpool to title glory. His coaching talent was recognized at Aston Villa. At the start of the new season, "Xie Lao Si" is determined to tighten up the military discipline, and it is rumored that he has issued a detailed list of penalties to the members of the team, even forgetting to bring a birthday cake and other small details!

The list of penalties is said to cover 20 clauses and although the maximum fine is only £1,000, several of them are billed on a daily or per-minute basis, and the cumulative fines would be substantial if all infractions were triggered. The main focus is on poor player habits such as lack of organization and lateness, but also aims to boost players' mood and motivation during matches.

The list has a number of penalties for lateness alone, such as a fine of £500 for late arrival at training, £200 per minute for late appearance and late arrival to the car, £1,000 for late arrival to a meeting on a match day, £250 for late arrival to a business event and £200 for late arrival to physiotherapy.

Another is "forgetfulness", such as forgetting to bring a GPS device during training, forgetting to tidy up after a meal, forgetting to sort out clothes after training, forgetting to bring a birthday cake, forgetting to bring recovery socks and so on, with fines ranging from £50 to £100.

There are also other matters such as poor dress code on match days, illegal parking, not wearing flip-flops in the shower, failing to notify the team doctor by 10am in the event of an injury or illness, littering, and fines of between £100 and £200 for receiving a yellow card for insubordination.

In addition to the above list, there are also two special penalties: if a player is shown a red card, the player will have to treat the whole team to a meal out for four weeks; the player with the worst performance on the day before the match will be required to wear a T-shirt that says "I've had the worst practice" at the next pre-match training session as an incentive for the player to improve his or her performance.
