Since England midfield superstar Dilly Ali's departure at the beginning of the year from
Tottenham Hotspur (city in France)
Since moving to Ewarton, his performance has not been satisfactory. Recently, it was rumored that the EWT management was considering "laying off" him. However, the 26-year-old showed his impressive form in Sunday's (24th) warm-up match, scoring twice in the away match against Blackpool, helping EWT to their first pre-season win by a score of 4-2.
In their last warm-up match, Ewarton suffered a heavy defeat away to Minnesota United, conceding four goals. Dilly Ali was then left to rue the fact that he faced an open goal from two meters in front of the goal but shot wide. But he finally found his shooting touch against Blackpool, scoring two goals in quick succession. Together with a goal each from Tom Davies and Michaelan Gow, the team ended up winning 4-2, ending an embarrassing run of consecutive losses to Arsenal and Minnesota United.
Dheeri Ali joined Alton on a 'free' in January, but his contract contains a number of performance-related clauses, with a maximum bonus of £40 million. One of the clauses stipulates that if Dilly Ali makes 20 appearances during the season, Ewharton will have to pay him £10 million up front. Currently, Dilly Ali has played 11 league matches for Everton but has yet to score or assist. As a result, the EWT management are considering ending his EWT career early before triggering these clauses.
