Chelsea have followed up their success in bringing in Manchester City winger Staanen not long ago by announcing their second signing, welcoming in Napoli center-back Golibani. The 31-year-old Senegalese international has signed a four-year contract with the Blues, earning a whopping €10 million a year. Golibani has departed for the United States to join the Chelsea squad in preparation for the upcoming pre-season warm-up matches.
With Chelsea's center backs Rudiger and Anders Kirchen having left the club and the possibility of Espagoda joining Barcelona, the team is in dire need of additions to the center back position. Golibani has only one year left on his contract at Napoli and has refused to extend it, giving Chelsea a great opportunity. They managed to get the center back for a fixed transfer fee of 38 million euros plus a floating transfer fee of 2 million euros.
Golibani spent eight seasons with Napoli, making a total of 317 appearances, scoring 14 goals and three assists, including 34 appearances last season, contributing three goals and three assists. After joining Chelsea, he is expected to be a solid starter.
