The English Premier League was full of smoke and mirrors as Liverpool beat Newcastle away on Saturday (30), while Manchester City responded with a 4-0 win over Leeds United in the early hours of Sunday morning (1) to regain top spot in the table. City, dubbed the "Blue Moon", won the crucial battle and hold a slim one-point advantage over Liverpool, with the next four rounds of the league deciding who will ultimately win the trophy.

Liverpool's victory gave City no cause for complacency, with Rodrigo Casciani scoring from a corner in the 13th minute, while Leeds United fought back but collapsed like a landslide in the second half. Nathan Aki made it 2-0 in the 30th minute with a low shot in front of the goal, the in-form Gabriel Jenksis scored again in the 78th minute, and veteran Ferrandino added the icing on the cake in stoppage time, helping City to a 4-0 win.

Despite City's lead in the table, Liverpool's near-perfect record of 13 wins and 1 draw in their last 14 league matches leaves no room for City to lose any points. After the match, leader Gaudiona said: "We've kept this form and it has nothing to do with pressure. The situation is simple: we win the last four games to win the title, otherwise the title will belong to Liverpool. This situation has been what we expected."
