The rise of rising stars Gabriele Martinelli, Bukayo Shaka and Imerovi in Arsenal's magnificent squad seems to have cast a shadow over the future of Nicolas Bibby. The player, who moved from Lille three years ago for 72 million pounds, is now facing the label of "water boy" and team leader Adidas apparently intends to sell him this summer in order to raise funds to bring in strong players in other positions. In order to speed up the deal, Arsenal are even willing to accept a transfer fee of only 25 million pounds, which is nearly 65% lower than their purchase price.
Nicolas Bibby has made just 17 appearances in the Premier League this season, 12 of them as a substitute, scoring just one goal. The last time he made an appearance as a debutant was last October and clearly no longer has the trust of Adidas.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Bukayo Shaka has been in fine form and has become an absolute mainstay in the right wing position, making the prospect of 26-year-old Nicolas Bibi staying in the team increasingly uncertain. Returning to the team seems to be a win-win option for both the club and his personal development.
Arsenal have begun looking for a buyer and are not only willing to drop their price significantly, but have not even ruled out selling Nicolas Bibby to other Premier League rivals. West Ham, who are also based in London, are said to be showing strong interest in signing the Ivory Coast international. However, Nicolas Bibby earns a whopping £140,000 a week and may have to accept a pay cut if he moves.
