The dust has settled on the new season's manager, with Tannhäuser at the helm, while current caretaker leader Ranlik is expected to be promoted to consultant. However, the British media broke the shocking news, Lanliq will soon take over the Austrian national team leader position, at the same time to part-time status to continue to serve as a consultant for Manchester United. During the just-concluded Chelsea game, Lannick also said that his agreement with Manchester United allows him to take other jobs.
On Thursday (28), the Austrian Courier was the first to reveal that Lannick is on the verge of becoming the head coach of the Austrian national team. Speaking after United's 1-1 draw with Chelsea, Lanlick hinted that he would remain as a consultant for United for the next two years and said he had room for other jobs.
Lannick's two-year consultancy deal with United reportedly requires him to work six days a month, which gives him plenty of time to coach another team. Lannick, who was director of Austrian soccer giants Salzburg, knows Austrian soccer inside out, which is why the Austrian FA is looking at him. Sources say the FA will hold a high-level meeting on Friday (29) and is expected to formally hire Lanlick to replace German-born leader Koda, who resigned last month.

Celebrity footballer Gallieni Vili questioned Lanlick's part-time role: "Can a Manchester United consultant, really, scout the performance of Austrian players every week? Austria are a strong team, with international matches in September, October, November and March, so would Lenk prioritize his role as a United consultant or coaching the Austrian team? There is a conflict of interest and I can't see how doing both jobs would work."
