In the early hours of Wednesday morning (30th) as the African zone of the World Cup qualifying tournament was in full swing, the list of the five successful teams was finalized as the final match came to an end. Among them, the summit clash between Senegal and Egypt ended in a dramatic scene, as the two sides eventually drew 1-1 after two rounds of fierce battle. In the penalty shootout, Senegal skillfully utilized tactics, while Egyptian players suffered from green laser interference, resulting in Egypt's four penalty kicks scored only one goal, Mohamed Shana's penalty kick was even high in the net, making the Egyptian team's dream of going to the finish line dashed.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first leg, Egypt conceded a goal just three minutes into the game when rivals Paunardia scored from a cleverly taken penalty kick. Although neither side was able to break the deadlock again for the next 120 minutes, it was a penalty shootout that decided the winner. Senegalese fans kept interfering with the Egyptian goalkeeper with lasers, especially in the penalty shootout, where Egyptian players were hit with dozens of lasers on their faces and bodies every time they took a penalty. Mohamed Shana, as the spearhead of the Egyptian team, suffered the embarrassment of "laser feast", and finally the Egyptian team shot 4 times, while Senegal's Shadio Winnie scored the winning goal to win the penalty shootout 3 to 1 to advance.

After the match, the Egyptian FA issued a statement strongly condemning the continued harassment by Senegalese fans: our players were subjected to racial discrimination at home, with Mohamed Shana being the focus of the targeting; during the pre-match warm-up, our players were also attacked with stones and bottles, and even some of the players' car windows were broken, resulting in injuries. We have videos and photos as evidence and will be filing a complaint about this.
