December 15, Beijing - Brazilian media Global Sports recently conducted an exclusive interview with Cangzhou Lions foreign aid Muric, in which Muric revealed that he has completed the release of his contract with Cangzhou Lions. Affected by the epidemic, he has been separated from his family for eight months, and the deep longing for his family has made him decide to return to Brazil. This decision also marks the official farewell to the Chinese fans of the cheetah, who has been a great force in the Chinese Super League and the AFC Champions League.
Muric expressed his thoughts about his family in the interview: "I have been living here alone for 8 months because my family could not come to China. I have a young daughter and a son who is only 8 years old, as well as my wife, and I miss them very much. If I am away from my family, then nothing I do has much meaning."
Reflecting on the time when he first came to China, Muric recalled, "I was 24 years old when I got an offer from China and after I discussed it with my family, the club offered me a four-year contract, which was the best decision I've ever made in my life."
Muric was at the peak of his career at Guangzhou Evergrande FC, where he scored 77 goals in 137 games, helping Evergrande win three Chinese Super League (CSL) trophies as well as the AFC Champions League, and was honored with the titles of top scorer and best player in the CSL.
After leaving Evergrande, although he is no longer at the peak of his career, Muric still maintains his strength. During his time playing for Meixian in the Central League, he scored 16 goals in 20 games; then in Cangzhou Lions, he scored 22 goals to help the team return to the Chinese Super League, and some fans even called for his naturalization.
Muric had originally planned to play in the Asian league for a few more years to allow his children to live a peaceful life in China. However, after the outbreak of the epidemic, his plans were jeopardized. At first, Muric hoped to obtain an entry permit directly from Brazil, but waited for four months to no avail. Later, they tried to obtain visas from Dubai, but again, no progress was made.
Now 35 years old and putting his family first, Muric is back in Brazil and the late-career cheetah is also hoping to find a Brazilian club to continue his career.
