December 17, Nanjing came heavy news: the Youth Olympic Sports Park stadium will usher in a magnificent transformation, transformed into a set of soccer and tennis in one of the multi-functional venues.
The stadium, after completing its renovation, will hold 50,000 seats and become the first professional soccer stadium in Nanjing. Top matches such as the Chinese Super League and even the Asian Cup are expected to be staged here.
Although the stadium was built to Olympic standards with cutting-edge facilities, its potential has not yet been fully unleashed due to seating capacity constraints. In order to meet the diversified needs, transformation and upgrading is imperative. It is reported that the sports park already has 3 soccer training fields and 11 natural turf training fields, providing unique conditions for the transformation of professional soccer field. By adjusting the layout of the stands and installing additional service facilities, the function and service quality of the stadium will be significantly improved and is expected to accommodate 50,000 spectators.
During the renovation project, the stadium will also make temporary adjustments to functional areas such as the VIP area, athletes' area and umpire's area, pave a tennis-specific surface, and create a finals venue of about 12,000 spectator seats and 8,000 quasi-finals venues. The sunken spectator spaces are of an assembled modular design and can be flexibly combined as required.
In the future, the stadium grandstand will have extraordinary mobility. It will be able to serve as a grandstand for a professional soccer stadium, but it will also be able to instantly transform into three tennis courts when a tennis match comes around.
