In the latest development in Nanjing, a soon-to-be refreshed sports landmark is about to be born. This stadium, the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park Stadium, will be skillfully remodeled to not only morph into a 50,000-seat professional soccer temple, but will also have the ability to transform into a tennis court.
This will not only be the first professional soccer stadium in Nanjing, but will also be capable of hosting the Chinese Super League and other soccer events of the same level, and is even expected to apply for top soccer events like the Asian Cup in the future.
Although the stadium was originally built to Olympic standards with cutting-edge facilities, its potential was not fully realized due to a seating capacity of only 18,000 seats. Fortunately, however, the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park not only boasts three soccer training fields, but also 11 natural turf training fields in the surrounding area, providing unique conditions for transformation into a professional soccer stadium. By optimizing the layout of the stands and installing additional service facilities, the stadium will be revitalized and is expected to accommodate 50,000 spectators.
What's more surprising is that in this upgrade, the houses originally used for the functionality of the soccer stadium for VIPs, players, referees and the organizing committee will be temporarily converted, while the tennis-specific surface will be paved with new greenery and become a tennis court. The sunken grandstand will be modular in design and flexible in conversion, capable of providing approximately 12,000 seats for the tennis finals and two 8,000 seats for the semi-finals.
In this way, the stadium is not only able to switch freely between a professional soccer stadium and a tennis court, but its stands can also be moved flexibly according to demand, whether it's for a daily soccer match or an unexpected tennis showdown.
