In the late fall of 2024, the 30th round of the Super League saw a grand finals extravaganza on Saturday, November 2 at 3:30pm. A total of eight exciting matches were on the cards that day.
According to CCTV's program schedule, the CCTV5 sports channel was scheduled to broadcast the final round of the Chinese Super League live in this prime time slot, however, the official did not disclose which specific game will receive live broadcast.
However, just on October 30, CCTV's program update brought an unexpected news: CCTV5 suddenly announced that it had canceled its plan to broadcast the final round of Chinese Super League matches, and replaced it with the battle between Beijing Beiqi and Liaoning Donggang in the women's third round of the 2024/2025 Chinese Super League volleyball.
Meanwhile, CCTV5+ Sports has not scheduled any live broadcast of Chinese Super League matches. In this time slot, viewers will enjoy the exciting replay of the women's singles matches in the 2024 China Open, the spectacular show skating in the U.S. Grand Prix of Figure Skating for the 2024/2025 season and the 11th round of the La Liga showdown between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The finale of the Chinese Super League is about the final reveal of the champions and the fate of relegation, with at least five of the matches in the spotlight, and all of them set to open at the same time. This puts CCTV Sports in a dilemma over the live streaming options, and ultimately it may have decided to treat all the matches the same and not broadcast them live.
