In a post on his social media, Chen Yong spoke highly of the stunning performances of Taishan and Shenhua in the AFC Champions League.
Taishan and Shenhua both won by a landslide in the first round of the new AFC East Asian Championship. Taishan defeated Central Coast Mariners 3-1, while Shenhua beat Pohang Steelers 4-1.
Commenting on the two teams, Chen Yong said: "Taishan was like a tiger descending from the mountain as soon as they arrived at the AFC Champions League, and even in the toughest moments, they relied on the AFC Champions League stage to realize their revival and accumulate valuable experience. Today, I have particular admiration for Shenhua's performance. Last year they didn't qualify for the AFC Champions League, and this year is the first time they've stepped onto the stage.
