The rapidity with which Sun Jungho confessed to his guilt in the case of his detention is thought-provoking. He describes his despair and depression at being imprisoned and his only way to regain his freedom was to confess. He describes the harshness of the detention center, the fear behind the bars, and his plight of having to bathe in cold water at a room temperature of minus 25°C. He is a man who had to give up his dream of playing football in order to keep it alive. He had to succumb to trivial charges in order to keep his soccer dream alive. It is widely believed that this is his attempt to gain sympathy and defame others in order to seek forgiveness from the Korean society. However, there is a truth revealed that may not be overlooked: the desperation of losing his freedom was the inner driving force behind his quick confession.
What happened to Sun Junhao reflects a similar phenomenon. The fact that Li Tie, Chen Xuyuan and Du Zhaocai all confessed after a short period of detention may reveal the great impact of the loss of freedom on human nature. In the fear of losing freedom, human weaknesses are exposed. Chen Xuyuan cries bitterly in remorse, expressing his desire for freedom and remorse for his past behavior: "If I could do it all over again, I would exchange my life for the opportunity to repent and never do it again." This scene is an even more profound revelation of the powerful influence of freedom on the human heart.
