Iba, the former mainstay of the Swedish national team, is still in his 41st year, scoring a penalty in a Serie A match in the early hours of Sunday (19th), setting a new record for the oldest goal scorer in the history of the Serie A. He is also a member of the AC Milan team, and has been a member of the AC Milan team for three consecutive league matches. However, the AC Milan he plays for suffered a 1-3 defeat away to Udinese, losing their third consecutive league match, and the road to defending their title is getting more and more bumpy.
Ibrahimovic underwent surgery for an injury in May last year and did not return until the end of February this year, and has been on the bench recently. With teammate Chiote suspended for the match, Iba was able to make his debut and captain the side, however AC Milan conceded just nine minutes into the match, with Udinese midfielder Roberto Pereira breaking the deadlock.
In the first half of stoppage time, Udinese center Chakabizul took a handball in the penalty area and the referee blew for a penalty kick. Ibrahim Mowei took the penalty which was parried away by goalkeeper Marko Schwieszawa but the referee ruled that an Udinese player entered the penalty area early and Ibrahim Mowei got the chance to re-shoot with a powerful shot to make the score 1-1.
Ibrahimovic has overtaken AC Milan star Costa Guta to become the oldest goal scorer in Serie A history. Costa Guta scored a penalty in the final round of the 2006/07 Serie A season when he was 41 years and 25 days old, while Ibrahimovic set the record at 41 years and 166 days this time. However, Udinese soon scored through Bitubi Donka's near post to take a 2-1 lead at half-time.
In the second half, AC Milan failed to turn the tide and conceded again in the 70th minute when Udinese right-hander Ehsb crashed in to seal a 1-3 defeat. After the match Ibrahim Mowei said, "I'm proud to be part of AC Milan's history, the goal didn't help the team to win, but it's regrettable that even though I haven't been in the starting lineup for 14 months, I feel good now and the most important thing is to stay fit, I'm confident in my future."
AC Milan only got a draw and two defeats in their last three league games, and are already 20 points behind Napoli at the top of the table. Not only is there little hope of competing for the title, but whether or not they can retain their top four position is also up in the air.
