The Premier League's 'Christmas champions' have traditionally stayed on top until the end of the season, but in recent years, the competition has heated up to the point where the real winner is not even revealed until the end of the season. In the last six seasons, only two of the 'Christmas Champions' have gone on to win the Premier League title, leaving frontrunners Liverpool with a frown on their faces.
Looking back at the seasons 2014/15 to 2017/18, all four years saw the "top of the Christmas table" teams win the championship. However, since the 2018/19 season, the situation has changed dramatically. In the past six seasons, although the "Christmas One" has been on top twice, Liverpool has only won the title once in the first three times they were at the top of the Christmas table. So even if Liverpool were to be crowned 'Christmas champions' this season, it would be difficult to secure the spoils.
Arsenal has unfortunately become the representative of the "Black Boys". In the past two seasons, despite winning the title of "Christmas Champion", but both under Manchester City, ending up as runners-up, attracting a lot of comments from the netizens, was jokingly referred to as "runner-up slaves".
Here are the final results of the Premier League's 'Christmas champions' for the last six seasons:
