Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) European campaign hit a low point when they lost to Sporting Club de Madrid in a thriller in the early hours of Thursday morning (7), failing to escape the clutches of the Europa League's knockout zone despite narrowly escaping with a 1-2 win at home. Coach Anriki described the match as a "horror movie".

Early in the game, PSG showed a strong desire to attack, with Sae Emeli taking the lead in the 14th minute, but it didn't last long, as the visitors equalized four minutes later. Despite a frantic attack, PSG were unable to take the lead again. Instead, Sporting Club de Madrid completed the comeback with a simple and direct counterattack in the last three minutes of extra time. Anzuglia took a long pass from Kishavin, and with a snap shot and a shot on goal, easily broke through the defense of Chianlucci, and finally sent PSG to a 1-2 defeat.

A total of 36 teams are competing in this year's European competition, and any team that is ranked 24th or below has a chance of advancing. However, PSG are currently in 25th place after accumulating only four points (one win and one loss) in four matches. Anriki said after the game, "I feel very disappointed, it's like watching a horror movie. I think it's fair. This year's European campaign has been at a low ebb and I've never experienced multiple injustices in a row. I still have four games to go and I'm not going to take it lightly."
