Brisbane Lions Roar have only made one appearance this season, a 0-2 defeat against Auckland FC in the first round, and it would be rash to jump to conclusions too early, after all, that was a big game for Auckland FC at home in New Zealand.
Looking back at last season, the Lions' attacking line was in dire need of a strong player with more than 15 goals in a season. The three players who scored the most goals last season only contributed 7 goals each, Henry Holley has left the team and Sher Osha (with 3 penalties) and young scorer Thomas Waddingham have taken over the baton. I strongly believe that Thomas Waddingham is expected to climb up to the center of the team's attack.
I'm also eagerly awaiting the performance of Belgium's newest star, Kijin Janusz, who is expected to form an attacking partnership with Thomas Waddingham.
Despite FC Sydney's close 2-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers in the first round, it rekindled old hatreds when it lost 0-1 to Auckland FC in the final round. In fact, FC Sydney was expected to take all three points on the road to maintain their good start to the season, but the absence of two stars, Duglas Costa and Zuruli, was fortunate.
In my opinion, Douglas Costa and Zuruli have been key players for FC Sydney this season, but unfortunately their absence will undoubtedly diminish the team's offensive creativity.
Similar to the Brisbane Roar, FC Sydney are also in dire need of a consistent goal scorer, so I'm looking forward to the performance of former Ludi player Kilimara. Kilimara is expected to be a big acquisition for the team and today's game may see him as a goal threat, however, I expect the number of goals in this game to be limited and both sides may end up with a draw.
